PunchClock

A simple clock-in experience for employees, with the local-first reliability and administrator tools a small workplace needs behind it.

What it helps with.

The employee side stays intentionally small. The extra detail lives behind an administrator PIN, where it can help with roster changes, status checks, and payroll preparation.

A private employee flow

Employees enter a PIN, see the one action that makes sense, confirm it, and leave the screen ready for the next person.

Local first, sync second

Every punch is saved on the iPad before the network is involved. If the connection fails, the punch stays safe and waits.

Roster and payroll review

An administrator can manage employees, review clock status, choose a pay period, spot issues, and prepare summary and detail files.

Another view when needed

An invite-only web portal can show the cloud copy, punch history, reports, and archives without exposing the employee kiosk.

A normal use.

The everyday path should take seconds. Network trouble, reporting, and account management should not get in an employee's way.

    The public screen does not show the employee roster.

  2. 02Clock in or out

    The app offers the action that follows the last saved punch.

  3. 03Save locally

    The original time is recorded on the iPad immediately.

  4. 04Review later

    Cloud copying and payroll review happen without holding up the kiosk.

What has been used for real.

The core promise—save the punch first—has been exercised on the physical iPad, not only on a development screen.

Physical iPad

A PIN-based clock-in and clock-out were completed on the older workplace device.

Original times kept

Both events were saved locally and arrived in the cloud copy with their original punch times.

Existing data preserved

A later app update was installed over the existing app without removing its local workplace file.

Still open

The final payroll handoff beside the real payroll file and the physical receipt printer still need a full operator rehearsal. PunchClock can prepare those paths, but the site does not call them finished.
